| I appreciate your interest in my art glass. I am a full
time glass craftsman and have been designing and fabricating glass
pieces for over 20 years. I was a Lt. for the City of Fort Lauderdale,
Florida for 13 years before moving to rural Tennessee to raise my 3
daughters. It was after this move that I discovered my love for art
glass and my ability to design and fabricate pieces. I do not have a
masters degree in art or any formal education in art. The designs come
from my imagination and frequently come while I'm "out of the
studio". The design for your project, be it a door, window, fire
screen, room divider, or a free hanging piece, is only limited by your
budget and the combination of our imaginations. |
| My imagination is stimulated by nature, greeting cards,
posters and other people. The images portrayed in my art glass
frequently convey simplicity and warmth obtained through the use of
various textures and subtle hues of glass rather than an emphasis on
bright multi-colored glass. |
| In most of my work, I use the copper foil technique
developed by Louis Tiffany, giving me the opportunity to create pieces
with delicate detail and yet retains a stronger joint than that of the
lead came design. |
| Exhibiting at craft shows throughout the U.S. word of
mouth are my major means of advertising, and my only means of receiving
commissions for custom glass; so do not let distance interfere with your
obtaining a piece of my work. |
| The cost depends on the size of your glass, complexity of
design, amount of beveling, and somewhat on the type of glass you
choose. A window half the size of something you saw in my booth is
frequently not half the cost; likewise twice the size is not always
twice as much. What's the average cost? I once had my hand on a hot
stove burner and my foot in a bucket of ice water - on the average I
should have been comfortable. |
| If you would like a quote, I will need to know the size
and a rough idea of what you have in mind in the way of design. I can
then give you an estimate of a price range that I think that particular
job would cost. If my estimate is within the budget you had in mind, I
would need a deposit of $100 or 50% of the proposed project (whichever
is less) for a full scale drawing and glass samples, which will be
mailed to you for your approval. Once you approve the drawings and
select your glass, 50% of the balance is required to execute your
project. The balance is due upon delivery. Should your glass work be
finished and you do not wish to take delivery, due to construction
delays, etc., then all but 10% of the balance is due upon completion of
your glass. |
| I do not develop sketches, scaled drawings, or send out
photographs without a financial commitment from you. |
| I invite and encourage those of you that live or travel
in our area to come by and visit my studio. A major part of my custom
work comes from out-of-state contracts. So do not let distance
discourage you. Most work can be executed in one or two communications.
I would be happy to talk to you further about custom work. Please call
or write. |
| I think you will find my designs and the top-quality
workmanship in my windows, doors, and unique gifts worthy of your
careful consideration. |
